Here is my wish today:
That all of us with politically divided families (mine too!) find opportunities today to seek understanding. Not to deny what is indefensible — the words and winks which minimize the dangers of bigotry, anti-Semitism, homophobia or Islamophobia. But that we all try our darnedest to listen, and to search for common ground wherever we might find it. Because for all the decades of reasons we’ve dug ourselves into this mess, we’ll only get out of it by pushing past the boundaries in our own hearts.
