After a mosque burns, Seattle finds strength

A terrible thing happened over the weekend, when a mentally ill man set fire to the Islamic Center of Eastside, in the Seattle suburb of Bellevue.

Preemptive Love has a touching story about how that community is coming together — Christian women reaching out to their Muslim sisters in solidarity, and Muslims expressing empathy and forgiveness toward the transient man who destroyed their home.

At a packed-to-capacity community event created in response to the fire, speaker James Whitfield said: “Moments like these are turning points in history — an opportunity for us to speak up and decide which way we go from here.”

You can help set that direction by donating to rebuild the mosque — they are already halfway to goal! It’s also not too late to do the same for the Islamic Center of Lake Travis in Austin.
