I haven’t kept up with Standing Rock to the extent that I should. Not great, I know. I guess I’ve felt distracted by issues that felt, for me, more touchable. But I want to do better. I think I’ll start, in my charity budget for this month, by following the recommendation of a former professor and donating to Sitting Bull College, the institute of higher ed on Standing Rock’s North Dakota reservation.
Anyway we are all looking for reasons to smile right now, and I don’t know how you could avoid it after watching this exchange between Wes Clark Jr. (yes, the son of that Wesley Clark, Sr. ) Lakota leader Chief Leonard Crow Dog.
